The Role
We are seeking a Regular Full-Time, Human Resources Generalist (FTE 1.0). Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist provides support to functional areas for the HR department. This includes but not limited to, developing and maintaining EFW's occupational health and safety initiatives, programs and policies to continuously improve EFW's safety performance and contributing to other special projects and program delivery. Through the development of strong working relationships the HR Generalist also provides timely and relevant advice to managers and employees regarding HR processes, programs, and policy interpretation.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Builds strong working relationships with supervisors, managers, and employees
- Acts as a point of contact in Human Resources to address HR policy and process questions from employees
- Collaborates on special projects by researching, developing and organizing information as required
- Undertakes research to develop new HR programs and policies
- Assists with the development and maintenance of HR and organization policies and procedures and other documentation
- Administration of multiple HR email accounts and assists with HR administrative duties as requested
- Provides back-up and support to other HR team members as required
- Undertakes other related duties as assigned
The HR Generalist will be assigned to a combination of the following functional areas. Functional areas may be re-assigned from time to time to support HR team members and the operational requirements of the HR department.·
- Develops and maintains EFW’s occupational health and safety programs and policies, including but not limited to:
- Providing support to EFW’s OH&S committee
- Supports safety related projects and programs
- Coordinates and conducts safety related training
- Analyzes and maintains incident report tracking
- Report on the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives
- Assists with the development and maintenance of HR and organization policies and procedures and other documentation
- Assists with administration and maintenance of Policy Management System
- Manages system content
- Maintains privacy report tracking
- Participates in full-cycle recruitment process including but not limited to:
- Reviewing operational needs with managers and creating job descriptions
- Developing and posting job ads using a variety methods and strategies.
- Supporting the development of recruitment advertising strategies for a variety of roles across many modalities
- Screening applicants and developing candidate short lists for job competitions
- Developing interview guides and participating in the interview process when necessary
- Initiating references on lead candidates
- Drafting employment agreements
- Oversees the EFW employee onboarding process including HR orientation.
- Administrates Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
- Creates and conducts various training presentations in the areas of recruitment and onboarding
- Coordinates and attends career fairs, open houses and other recruitment related events

You have the following
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management; or a business related field is required;
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety would be an asset
- 2-5 years of progressive HR or occupational health and safety experience is required
- Strong understanding of provincial safety legislation, and industry best practices
- Experience developing and/or implementing Health & Safety programs
- Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards Code and human resources principles and practices
- Have or working towards CPHR designation would be an asset
- High level of integrity with the ability to keep confidential information secure
- Ability to build strong relationships, coach/consult, and mediate conflict
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as member of the team
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and strong analytical and organizational skills
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify problem areas proactively
- Desire to continually upgrade skills, knowledge, and expertise in the Human Resource profession
- Professional attitude in all interactions with employees, supervisors, managers, and directors
- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe
Working Conditions
- Able to spend prolonged periods at a desk utilizing a computer and monitor and performing other close visual work as required (sitting, handling, touching, finger dexterity)
- This position is based at our Head Office located in Seton (Calgary SE) but requires the ability to travel to any EFW location and provide own transportation as required
